37, a number. Three tens and 7 ones. If you are 7, 30 more seems ancient. If you are 37, you are thinking 7 was a lifetime ago. 37 years isn't all that long on the timeline of life, especially if the timeline reaches to 87 or beyond.
I don't know much about the expected timeline of a houseplant, but I do know that a houseplant in my care usually has a short timeline! If one survives, it must be a hardy one! Here is a picture of a survivor....it is 37 years old or let me say it this way, entered the Greer family timeline 37 years ago. Let me explain.
This plant was a bereavement gift from my momma's funeral. Someone offering their condolences, sent a planter and it found its way home with Dad. He did have a green thumb and cared for this plant. Over the years it has flourished and nearly died, many times. Somehow, it ended up in my plant collection and has suffered the same pattern of ups and downs! 37 years ago, at the age of 50, my mom went to heaven. Today, a legacy vine flourishes as does her memory.
